The News 12 Long Island studio and newsroom re-location is complete and on-air at the Altice USA headquarters in Bethpage, N.Y., following a multi-year system design and integration project led by KMH Integration.

The new 40,000 square-foot facility includes expanded newsroom, studio, control room and production spaces – all designed and built to deliver enhanced workflow efficiency, improved on-air quality and greater production flexibility.

The project involved migrating all production operations including studios, master control rooms, weather, monitor walls, graphics, edit suites and newsrooms, and a technical operations center. KMH also designed, built, and tested a central equipment room with approximately 100 racks of equipment supporting all News 12 production and transmission systems.

According to Kevin Henneman, president of KMH Integration, the overall goals of the project were to centralize News 12’s media operations, while maintaining local production capabilities and ensuring no on-air downtime during the re-location.

“A project of this scale has a lot of moving parts to manage, from consulting with News 12 management and engineering teams to reviewing workflows to making sure construction schedules were followed,” said Henneman. “Close coordination with News 12 from day one was essential to build and test all new systems before migrating over the existing systems, channel by channel.”

With the new facility on the air, KMH Integration project teams will remain on-site to provide ongoing post-installation support, system training and maintenance.
