WVIT like many of today’s broadcasters was faced with the challenge of the transition from the hybrid analog and digital standard definition formats with tape based production, editing and broadcast systems prevalent throughout the industry. WVIT ultimately needed to migrate to a digital workflow utilizing video server technology and shared storage to facilitate workflow and increase efficiencies.
Acquisition of content would now be accomplished with new High Definition cameras routed, distributed and switched with wide band compliant core systems. Adding to the complexity of the project, WVIT would be relocating from their existing facility to a 60,000 square foot multi-floor facility. Various existing systems would be relocated as well with an intricate series of transitions planned and coordinated between WVIT engineering and KMH.
